Dr. David Neger, MD, FRCPC: Psychiatrist and Medical Director of Psychosomatic Medicine
Dr. David Tzvi Neger is a psychiatrist, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and a Royal College specialist in psychiatry. He is a member of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and of the Ontario Medical Association. Since 2016 he has practised at 101 Medical Centre, where he serves as Medical Director of Psychosomatic Medicine.
Born in Toronto, Dr. Neger earned his medical degree through the Sackler School of Medicine New York Program in Tel Aviv. He completed his psychiatry residency training at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, and went on to a fellowship in psychosomatic medicine at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York.
Dr. Neger has taught medical students and residents. His teaching responsibilities have included rounds and education for medical students, a personality disorders lecture for third-year medical students during their psychiatry clerkship, and the supervision of assigned third-year medical students together with examining their final interviews and oral presentations during that clerkship. He has also supervised first-year emergency medicine and psychiatry residents in a junior attending role during their psychiatric emergency rotation, and delivered a series of mini lectures to first- and second-year residents as part of that rotation, on the management of agitation, on substance withdrawal and treatment, and on the legal status requirements for inpatient admission.
Dr. Neger has contributed to psychiatric research. He has been a co-investigator on a study of mental status changes pre and post liver transplant, and a co-investigator on a retrospective study of PANDAS, the results of which were presented at Grand Rounds in the Psychiatry Department at Maimonides Medical Center and as a poster presentation at the American Psychiatric Association meeting.
